Brush up on your poetry skills during our workshops and classes for poets at all levels.
Using examples from contemporary poetry, we’ll explore how concrete and abstract language can increase the originality and resonance of poems. Exercises in creating images and shaping them into lines will kick start new poems driven by strong imagery. Registration is recommended.
This program is presented by Barbara Sabol & Marion Boyer. Barbara Sabol's sixth collection is “WATERMARK: Poems of the Johnstown Flood of 1889,” (Alternating Current Press, 2023). She is the associate editor of “Sheil-Na-Gig online,” and edited the anthology, "Sharing the Delicate Bread: Selections” from Sheila-Na-Gig online. Marion Starling Boyer is a professor emerita of Communication and has published three full-length poetry collections and three chapter books. Her book, “Ice Hours” (2023), won the University of Michigan's Wheelbarrow prize and was named "New and Noteworthy" by Poets & Writers.
