On September 17, 1944, thousands of Allied paratroopers dropped into occupied Netherlands. This operation, known as Operation Market Garden, intended to secure bridges that would cross into Germany’s western border. Instead, it failed and became one of the most controversial operations of the Second World War and led to over 3,000 American casualties. Join us to learn about Operation Market Garden, why it failed, and how reenactors are keeping the stories of American soldiers alive from the Baker Company. Registration is recommended.
About the Baker Company:
The Baker Company is an all-volunteer organization formed for the educational purpose of bringing to life the historical aspects of World War II; promoting a fellowship of all who hold the same interest; and presenting the diverse aspects of the life of the United States Airborne soldier during 1941-1945, his uniforms, equipment, actions and battles in as authentic a manner as possible with activities, displays, programs, and living history demonstrations.
